One can master many skills off the field; coaches refer to these skills as athletic development.  Initial fundamental skills include coordination, balance, stabilization, flexibility, hand/eye coordination and form running.  Once the athlete masters these fundamental skills, the athlete can then concentrate on specific sport-related skills.  Sport-specific skills include increased power output, speed development, lateral speed and agility, reactivity, plyometrics and different aspects of strength training. Efficiency of these skills will decrease the likelihood of injury. Injury prevention is vital in sport and athletic development.

Sports have evolved dramatically in the past decade.  This field has become more competitive than it has ever been.  The demand for athletic development is at its highest.  Coaches and athletes are constantly searching for ways of increasing speed, flexibility, agility and strength and generally, are more competitive on the playing field. The demand to further athletic skills throughout Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas is immense.

  • Assessment of the group or individual's athletic needs. This will include but not be limited to testing flexibility, reactivity, running technique, cardiovascular fitness and power output;
  • Develop and implement a training program suited for individual needs on a group level;
  • The training process promotes proper technique and efficiency of movement with strict supervision throughout the entire workout;
  • Documentation of ongoing testing results, evaluations and assessments of athletes to monitor progress is vital;
  • Continuous promotion of the program including clinics, camps, competitions and demonstrations.
